Title:                   Landscape Maintenance Lead

Department:   Tsuut’ina Development Authority, Taza Lands

Reports to:       Manager – Tsuut’ina Development Authority

 JOB DESCRIPTION

This position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the landscape maintenance crew within the Tsuut’ina Nation and Taza lands. Work includes managing a small crew by prioritizing projects, assigning work tasks, using equipment, maintaining records, monitoring work quality and work schedules, insuring crew safety, training employees, and providing performance feedback.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Spring/Summer Duties:
  • Producing progress reports, Review documentation and transactions;
  • Procuring supplies;
  • Devising strategies to generate leads and reach goals faster;
  • Loading/unloading of trucks and trailers throughout the day;
  • Operate equipment, as in, riding lawn mower, push mower, weed wacker;
  • Daily inspections on landscape throughout the Nation and Taza lands;
  • Daily inspections on vehicles, tools and equipment;
  • Other duties that may be assigned
  • Fall/Winter Duties:
  • Producing progress reports, Review documentation and transactions;
  • Procuring supplies;
  • Devising strategies to generate leads and reach goals faster;
  • Loading/unloading of trucks and trailers;
  • Brush, branch and trunk clearing;
  • Christmas light display installations and take down;
  • Daily inspections on vehicles, tools and equipment;
  • Other duties that may be assigned

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required with previous experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The applicant must have the ability to deal with the general public in a professional, courteous manner and provide support to the Public Works office as required.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

The applicant must have the ability to answer questions and resolve problem situations, or refer them to an appropriate office. The employee must be able to comprehend instructions and produce daily/monthly reports.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team;
  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and equipment;
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand or crouch for long periods of time;
  • Requires good stamina and manual dexterity;
  • Able to work outdoors in various conditions;
  • Ability to write and orally communicate detailed information and data in clear and concise manner.
