JOB TITLE:       Language Resource Development Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Tsuut’ina Gunaha Institute

REPORTS TO:  Manager/Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Language Resource Development Assistant position supports the development of language/culture resources as directed by the Tsuut’ina Gunaha Institute. This is a full-time position. The Language Resource Development Assistant will be responsible to work with school language teaching staff to develop various visual resources for use in the Nations Schools, Community, and Tsuut’ina language resource development. The Language Resource Development Assistant will be responsible for providing resource projects on a request and deadline basis. The Language Resource Development Assistant reports directly to the Tsuut’ina Gunaha Institute Director and/or Executive Assistant.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

REPORTS TO PROGRAM DIRECTOR AND/OR EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

  • Work closely with Resource Development Team (TTGI Admin) to successfully execute language and culture resource development projects
  • Adhere to resource development process and schedule in order to meet project deadlines
  • Research existing resources, work with elders, and draw on prior knowledge to ensure resources are reflective of Tsuut’ina culture, history, and language
  • Help the Tsuut’ina Gunaha Institute Website, editing, layout, and design
  • Render artwork and/or graphic design on a request basis with collaboration with TTGI Artist
  • Update and revise language and culture resources on a request basis
  • Participate in Tsuut’ina language and culture training sessions and events
  • Photographer for language events and other projects
  • Effectively consolidate, organize and manage existing and current resources and materials
  • Must attend regular Tsuut’ina Gunaha Institute Staff Meetings
  • Must attend regular Tsuut’ina Language Speaker Socials
  • Provide a Monthly/Bi-Weekly Update to Tsuut’ina Gunaha Institute Director

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES:

  • Tsuut’ina Nation Citizen or Community Member
  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • Competent in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator & In-Design and eagerness to learn new software
  • Passionate about design in Indigenous language/culture revitalization
  • Willingness to update job knowledge by participating in training and workshops
  • Working understanding of Microsoft (Excel/PowerPoint)
  • A technology enthusiast that enjoys a digital lifestyle
  • Strong work ethic and attitude
  • Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to learn quickly in various technical and creative environments, while delivering quality work by required deadlines, are key attributes of this individual
  • Tsuut’ina language and cultural knowledge is an asset
  • Ability to work in a team environment and accept input from others
