Position title:              Medical Transportation Driver

Reports to:                  Health director

Department:               Health and Wellness Centre

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the health director and under the day-to-day supervision of the medical transportation coordinator, the medical transportation driver is responsible for carrying out the duties as outlined.

DUTIES AND RESPONDSIBLITIES:

  • Transport clients to and from medical appointments
  • Transport patients by assisting patients in and out of the vehicle
  • Be able to lift patients as required
  • May be required to work outside of regular working hours
  • Maintains safe secure and healthy work environment by following safety standards and procedures
  • Ensure documentation of each client is obtained and completed
  • Daily maintenance of medical fleet vehicles
  • Complete log sheets daily of all trips
  • Ensure all clients, destination and times are confirmed with supervisor prior to any trips
  • Reports all vehicle maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 Qualifications and skills

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Class 4 driver’s license
  • Driver’s abstract required upon hire
  • Must have a clear current criminal check
  • Knowledge of First nations and Inuit health branch NIHB program
  • First aid/ CPR certificate or must be willing to train

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience

Supervised by: Nation Health Director/ Medical Transportation Coordinator
