JOB DESCRIPTION

Tsuut’ina Nation’s Utilities Department operates and maintains the regional water transfer system, water distribution, wastewater collection and wastewater treatment systems. There would also be opportunity to learn and work on septic systems including fields, potable water wells, cisterns and pressurized home water systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working under the guidance and direct supervision of Level 1 & 2 Water Distribution/Wastewater Collection Operators, you will be responsible for conducting the daily maintenance of the water and wastewater facilities.

The main responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to learning and executing the following:

  • Assist in carrying out inspections, maintenance and testing of Nation fire hydrants
  • Assist in the water sampling program
  • Assist in repairing and maintenance of critical infrastructure
  • Exercise valves and conduct valve locates
  • Daily cleaning of water distribution plants and sewage lift stations
  • Cutting grass around fenced reservoirs and wastewater lagoons
  • Cleaning utilities fleet vehicles
  • General building maintenance
  • Participate and comply with all aspects of the Nation’s health and safety program
  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
  • Other related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other personnel, Nation public and supervisor(s)
  • Returning to full-time high school or post-secondary studies upon completing the term of this position
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Tech savvy
  • Physical fitness and endurance (working outside for extended periods of time, walking, standing, lifting and twisting)
  • Ability to lift 25 Kg (55 lbs.)
  • Responsible to show up each day on time
  • Strong team player
  • Must sign an Oath of Confidentiality

Wage range

  • $16.00-$18.50 depending on experience.
