Title: Youth advisory committee member
Department: Chief & Minor Chiefs Office
Reports to: Youth Advisory Committee Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY
- Provide a method for youth to participate in the Tsuut’ina Governance
- Raise awareness of issues affecting Tsuut’ina youth
- Creating and providing opportunities that may allow positive change for Tsuut’ina youth and our community through empowerment, education, culture and training.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attending scheduled Chief and Minor Chief meetings once a month, that are involving the youth committee.
- Contribute and add value to discussions regarding the Nation business strategic directions
- Attend meetings well prepared and understand the necessary background reading and if required, evaluated and add value to agenda items presented.
- Be available when needed and be accessible and approachable.
- Respect and maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrate integrity, honesty, ethical behavior and leadership in personal life and in the capacity as a youth committee member.
- Understand conflict of interest and declare real or perceived conflicts.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Must currently be attending high school or has completed grade 12.
- Must be 16-29 years of age
- Submit a criminal record check/ if applicant is over the age of 18 years old
- Is willing to be mentored and able to learn from others
- Demonstrates a commitment to the mission and values of the Tsuut’ina Nation and its businesses.
- Previous experience sitting in a committee would be a great asset
- Strategic thinking skills, judgement and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills
IN ADDITION:
- Depending on your position – a Vulnerable Sector check must be required upon application from all provinces, states or countries lived in for the last four years. Vulnerable Sector checks must be completed within the past month.
