Kelsey Big Plume’s leadership is rooted in family, tradition, and lifelong devotion to the Tsuut’ina Nation. Inspired from a young age by her father, Chief Sandford Big Plume, she leads with integrity and compassion, and champions greater representation for women, stepping forward to strengthen the female voice across the Nation.
Her service includes roles on the Education Board, the Tsuut’ina/Stoney Corrections Society, and the Tsuut’ina Nation Housing Corporation Board. She has chaired or contributed to committees focused on health, human resources, strategic planning, Treasury, and the Annual Celebrations Pow Wow, fostering open communication and team spirit throughout.
In her current term, Kelsey is focused on strengthening governance rooted in Tsuut’ina law, advancing economic independence, closing gaps in housing, infrastructure, health, and education, and revitalizing language and culture.
As a mother, she draws strength from her family and daily cultural teachings, raising her children in the Tsuut’ina way and instilling the values of resilience, generosity, and humour.
“Being Tsuut’ina means standing with my Nation, honouring our values, and carrying our identity forward with respect. I am grateful for where I come from, and I am committed to representing my people in a positive and meaningful way.”
