Please see the attached poster and information for the Indigenous Science Night: Ancestor Rocks.
October is right around the corner and with that comes our next Indigenous Science Night: Ancestor Rocks. Guests can expect a night full of teachings, science, and a new perspective of looking at Rocks as an Ancestor and not an item.
Some of the things you can expect that night are:
Cooking with Earth & Stones: Led by Cree Chef Shane Chartrand, learn how to cook alongside the Land, in the Earth, and with Ancestor Rocks.
Sharp Science: Physics, Stories, & Arrowheads: Flint Knapping has been used to make knives, spearheads, and arrowheads. Come knapp an arrowhead and feel the vibrations of the stones as you are guided through this physics-based hands-on workshop.
From artifacts to Ancestors: Protocols, Ceremony Archaeology: Join Blackfoot Elders and the UofC Archaeology Department to learn how to decolonize archaeology through ceremony, spirit, and stories of these Lands.
Indigenous Science Night: Ancestor Rocks is on October 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM.
